Lapid's 'Ahed's Knee' secures US release & unveils trailer

"Y., an Israeli filmmaker in his mid-forties, arrives in a remote village at the far end of the desert to present one of his films. There he meets Yahalom, an officer for the Ministry of Culture, and finds himself fighting two losing battles: one against the death of freedom in his country, the other against the death of his mother." That's the basic synopsis for Nadav Lapid's stunning, haunting and provocative film, which premiered in Cannes and has gone on to screen in festivals around the world.

We at MIME have loved it since watching it at the New York Film Festival so it's only right that the film should start its North American run at Lincoln Center, the home of the NYFF.

Ahed's Knee is written and directed by Lapid whose earlier Synonyms is also a must-watch. His latest work stars Avshalom Pollak and Nur Fibak, is produced by Judith Lou Lévy and will be distributed in the US by Kino Lorber.
