According to the Maison Valentino, PINK PP is "the color of love, community, energy and freedom." To celebrate these wonderful feelings, Valentino's Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli has tapped into two celebrities who represent all that is right with the world: actress Zendaya and racing star Lewis Hamilton.
"Zendaya shot by Micheal Bailey Gates in a monochromatic and obsessive Pink PP space, has an attitude that recalls a sense of freedom. A freedom that acts as a neutral, that goes beyond any feminine traits. All pictures capture a moment becoming a portrait of a movement," the Maison's press release announces. There is a video by Marcell Rev which creates a dream-like scenario, with the notes of the soundtrack by Yazoo, and the song 'Only You', the same which played for the Valentino show. The American actress and singer is best known for her roles as Spider-Man's girlfriend MJ (Michelle) Watson in Spider-Man: No Way Home as well as Chani, who appears briefly as a teaser of things to come in Denis Villeneuve's 2021 film Dune. She can currently be seen on the first two seasons of the HBO show Euphoria, based on the Israeli series by the name, playing Rue Bennett. A third season is planned for 2024.
Sir Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time Formula One World champion, takes the stage as the first Valentino menswear DI.VAs for the new Valentino Pink PP Men’s Advertising Campaign. The word stands for "DI.fferent VA.lues = DIVAS," we've been told. With it, Piccioli continues his conscious and progressive way of making culture by creating an authentic relationship with DI.VAs, becoming areal cultural comeback. From cinema, music, literature to sports, each DI.VAs plays a key role in sustaining the new vision gaining diversity by uniting together. Different faces that have as a common thread the modern mantra of empathy and connection.
The still image of Hamilton (see header) is shot by Nicolas Kern and visually styled by Law Roach. The monochrome collection is the result of research and of a necessity, fueled by a desire to create a lasting shade that would communicate the legacy of Valentino through a modern lens. Where the Maestro used his iconic Valentino Red, Piccioli gives us a bright shade of pink.
In Cannes, Palestinian actor Tawfeek Barhom wowed on the red carpet and off in Valentino ensembles. The young actor, always part of unorthodox projects which manage to get to heart of important issues, was featured in Tarik Saleh's Boy from Heaven, which won the Palme for Best Screenplay this past May. Barhom's past films include Hany Abu-Assad's The Idol, Eran Riklis' A Borrowed Identity and the original Euphoria miniseries, created and written by Ron Leshem and directed by Dafna Levin.
Syrian singer Nassif Zeytoun was seen sporting a Valentino ensemble, from the Maison's After Club collection at a concert on July 30th in Beirut. Zeytoun in 2010 was the winner of the Arabic reality television show Star Academy. He is best known for his song 'Mesh Aam Tezbat Maae', released in 2014. His music videos on YouTube have millions of views and he's beloved by fans around the MENA region.
Egyptian actress Mai Omar also shared a beautiful Valentino dress, styled with matching bag and heels to her 11+ million Instagram followers. Omar is best known her TV work which includes the 2021 series Outsider Bloodline, the 2020 series Al Futua and the upcoming Speed Dose, which is filmed in the UAE.
